Joel "Wheeles" Hinton, 53 of Mystic passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at his home.
Joel was born to Rodney and Merrietta (Curtis) Hinton in Waterloo, Ia on November 16, 1958. He received his education from Monroe High School and later completed his GED in Centerville, IA. He married Nancy Kay Burns on June 28, 1977 in Pella, Ia. Joel enjoyed riding his trike, fishing, hunting, working on motorcycles/trikes, loud music, attending concerts, western movies and the Kansas City Chiefs. Joel was head of security for the Antique Airfield's annual Fly-In in Blakesburg, Ia for many years. He was a member of the Airfield in Blakesburg, NRA, Sons of the American Legion and Brothers of the Third Wheel.
Joel is survived by his wife Nancy of Mystic, two daughters, Deara Nicole Hinton (Jack Fox Jr.) of Drakesville, Ia, Tesa Roze Hinton of Mystic, and unborn granddaughter Rilyn Roze, his parents; Rodney Hinton and Merrietta Stanley, brother John Hedrick (Terri) of Knoxville, Ia, sister Linda Hinton of LeGrande, Ia, and many cousinds, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents Homer and Marjorie Curtis and another grandmother, Anna Hinton.
His body has been cremated and a celebration of life service will take place at a later date. Memorials may be given to the family which may be left at or mailed to Thomas Funeral Home - 23548 Hwy 5 - PO Box 125 - Centerville, Iowa 52544. Condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com
